Holidays are a time of celebration, but the extra activity that can wear on our physical and emotional health.  As we enter this busy time of year, set aside a moment to  gather the natural tools you can use to maintain your radiance and your sense of peace.

+ Keep emotional balance. Nervine herbs like Tulsi can help your body respond to stress better.  A cup in the morning and at night will help your nervous system repair and maintain harmony.  In times of stress, flower essences like Rescue Remedy may bring you back to your center in moments, with just a few drops.  Learn other stress-relief techniques here.

+ Make time to maintain your energy. Make time for 10 minutes of breathing, stretching, chanting, or meditating throughout the day.  A few minutes a day of specific energy techniques can balance your energy levels. Learn more here. And don’t forget to budget time and space for you, and for quality rest each night.

+ Strengthen your defenses. Changing seasons and stress can strain your immune system.  Shiitake mushrooms are a tasty addition to soups or vegetables and support your defenses.  Hibiscus infusion is a tangy cleansing beverage that is full of bio-available Vitamin C.  Learn more here.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.

Skip blah beige meals, go for phytonutrient rich colorful foods

by S. L. Baker, features writer

(NaturalNews) Phenolics. Flavonoids. Carotenoids. Quercetin. Phloridzin. What do these scientific names have in common? They are all types of phytonutrients, also called phytochemicals, found in fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, and teas. And they may decrease the risk of not only minor illnesses like colds but also many of the major killers on the planet — including cancer and heart disease. Scientists have only identified a few of the suspected vast number of these natural compounds in foods that protect and build health. But two facts are clear. First, most Americans don’t get enough phytonutrients in their daily diet for optimum health and, second, there’s an easy strategy to boost your phytonutrient intake — simply eat a mix of more naturally colorful foods.

Childhood Constipation: A Bigger Health Problem Than We Think

Conventional medical wisdom says it’s fine to move your bowels only once in a couple of days, as long as your pattern is regular. Natural healers and alternative practitioners, however, know better – a minimum of once per day is necessary for good health and vitality.

Constipation may seem like a trivial and harmless problem, but the fact is that this seemingly little ailment can have far reaching and detrimental effects on various aspects of a person’s health. The following article discusses more.

Childhood Constipation: A Bigger Health Problem Than We Think

by Reuben Chow

Is your child constipated, or showing signs of constipation? If so, you may want to do something about it, especially in view of the findings of recent research conducted at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The study found that the negative impact on children suffering from constipation as well as the costs associated with the ailment are roughly as significant as those for asthma and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

You’re Invited to Gratitude Day at The Healing House in Winter Park.

Every November we celebrate “Gratitude Day” at The Healing House in Winter Park. The whole thing started 4 years ago in a staff meeting when we all thought it would be really cool to thank our patients, clients, colleagues and friends in a special way.

Before we knew it we were organizing our first Gratitude Day. We chose to do it in November for a number of reasons. First, November is Thanksgiving month, so what better time of the year to say thank you to those who are responsible for our success.

Secondly, the weather is just fabulous for an evening of fun, food, music, entertainment and a lot of FREE goodies. And let me tell you… When I say goodies I mean real value.
