Sheri Winston (CNM, RN, BSN, LMT) is one of the country’s most respected teachers about sex and sexuality. Her specialized knowledge is derived in large measure from her two-decade career as a certified nurse-midwife and gynecological practitioner. She has been a sex teacher for a decade and is the founder and executive director of the Center for the Intimate Arts. She teaches at educational institutions, women’s conferences, sexuality boutiques, and other venues.

Her 2009 book, Women’s Anatomy of Arousal: Secret Maps to Buried Pleasure, won the 2010 Book of the Year award from the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT). All classes are “clothes on and hands off,” in other words, easy on the nerves and totally respectful of boundaries. Some classes are lectures with discussion, others have experiential exercises that are totally comfortable and non-threatening. You will never be asked to do anything that makes you uncomfortable.

An integral view of the vital and fundamental relationship between birth and sex. Sex doesn’t just get the baby started. It isn’t just an act that occurs behind a locked bedroom door. Sex is part of who we are, the vital life force, and the manifestation of creation energy. As birth-workers, we need to understand and appreciate the profound and fundamental connections between these two facets of sexuality. Labor and birth share the same equipment, as well as a similar electro-chemical and neurobiological milieu. Both are altered states of consciousness and psycho-somatic-spiritual journeys. By understanding the similarities of the two states and how each process as an essential part of the other, it’s possible to see them in a new light. This essential class describes the inherent connections between labor and birth, and sexual arousal and orgasm. Understanding the connections of these experiences will provide birth professionals with new tools and techniques to assist your clients in their passage, as well as all women in their own ecstatic journeys.
