A prominent eliment of Arab, Armenian, Persian and Turkish music, the Doumbek's rhythm and voice drive the many varied cultures of the Near and Middle East.
The combination of deep bass tones and crisp, high tones give the doumbek it's name. Their are actually different 'doumbek' drums, known by a variety of names and spellings, such as tonbak, donbak, Tombak, etc.

This workshop will cover the proper hand technique for creating the multitude of sounds that come from this drum.
You will learn a vocabulary of rhythms, ranging in time signatures from two to ten.
There will be a Q&A session, followed by an open jam.
