Frame Drums are identified as a drum whose diameter is larger than the dept of its shell. Frame drums are among the oldest and most versatile of drums. Most cultures have some type of frame drum; the Egyptian Riq, the Brazilian pandeiro, the kanjira from south India, the middle eastern tar and bendir ,and the native American versions are but a few of the available frame drums. This rich rhythm history will be explored within the workshop.

Style and rhythms covered will be of Middle Eastern origin. Hand technique and a variety of rhythms will be covered. There will be a question and answer session, followed by an open jam.
