Just in time for the hustle and bustle of the holidays! In this hands-on herbal preparation class, you will learn how to make 2 immune-boosting herbal preparations that you can easily make at home for yourself, your friends and your family.
The holidays can be a busy, fun and stressful time. This can stress our immune system which makes us more susceptible to the colds and flus and viruses that tend to go around during this time. Elderberry Syrup and Fire Cider are 2 herbal preparations that can be taken daily to support and strengthen our immune systems. These are very easy to make at home. You will have your hands in making these preparations and will even have some to take home with you!!! You won’t want to miss this lively and fun class with Community Herbalist, Debbie Krause! We look forward to seeing you there!

Fire Cider is an ancient traditional remedy coined by Master Herbalist Rosemary Gladstar the roots of this remedy runs deep in folk medicine. It is a warming immuno-enhancing tonic that aids in digestion, clears the sinuses, fights colds and flu, and is both a food and medicine. We will be covering the traditional recipe that Rosemary Gladstar has been making for over 30 years and we will discuss some of our favorite variations. Each student will be going home with a jar of Fire Cider that will be ready to harvest in time for flu season.
During this class, you will learn how to make Rosemary’s traditional remedy hands-on using organic ingredients, and you’ll take home a batch to keep you and your family healthy this fall/winter.

Debbie Krause is an herbalist, teacher and medicine-maker. She has a passion for working with and teaching about plants and how plants can improve our lives via food, medicine and even communication. There is magic in plant medicine. Her interest in herbalism began several years ago when she began taking classes at the Florida School of Holistic Living where she completed the Roots of Herbalism course, The Family Herbalism course and the Community Herbalism course. She is fascinated by the magic that plants have to offer to aid us on our healing path and has continued her own education by learning from as many herbalists as possible. She has studied under and has been influenced by Emily Ruff, Rosemary Gladstar, Thomas Easley, Jim McDonald, Phyllis Light, Sevensong and many others. She believes that the learning never ends. She loves teaching and gets great joy seeing the spark light up in someone’s eye when they also realize that plants and herbs are so amazing. You will often find her in the kitchen concocting herbal preparations for herself and her family as well as the community. She is most well-known for her ‘Mega Balm’ healing salve which we will learn how to make in this class.
