Are you interested in learning how to create first aid salves and lip balms to soothe irritated skin using wild weeds? We will create a salve right here in class that you can take home with you! Salves are an effective and portable way to deliver plant magic to ease the discomfort of a variety of skin maladies. They can be used on minor boo boos, rashes, bug bites, etc.
As a bonus, we will discuss the steps you would take to legally sell salves and lip balms in the state of Florida. Obviously, we will not offer legal advice in this class, but we will provide direction so that you can understand the basic legalities around making, labeling and selling salves in Florida.

Debbie Krause is an herbalist, teacher and medicine-maker. She has a passion for working with and teaching about plants and how plants can improve our lives via food, medicine and even communication. There is magic in plant medicine. Her interest in herbalism began several years ago when she began taking classes at the Florida School of Holistic Living where she completed the Roots of Herbalism course, The Family Herbalism course and the Community Herbalism course. She is fascinated by the magic that plants have to offer to aid us on our healing path and has continued her own education by learning from as many herbalists as possible. She has studied under and has been influenced by Emily Ruff, Rosemary Gladstar, Thomas Easley, Jim McDonald, Phyllis Light, Sevensong and many others. She believes that the learning never ends. She loves teaching and gets great joy seeing the spark light up in someone’s eye when they also realize that plants and herbs are so amazing. You will often find her in the kitchen concocting herbal preparations for herself and her family as well as the community. She is most well-known for her ‘Mega Balm’ healing salve which we will learn how to make in this class.
