Those of us who “eat wild” know a secret, weeds are powerful plants that are packed with nutritional and medicinal benefits. Weeds have an amazing ability to pick just the right place to grow to ensure they reach maximum health.

This class will introduce a variety of the wild foods and wild medicines that grow in our own backyard. Living in the Florida Panhandle gives us access to wild edibles all year round. This course will help you learn how to identify, harvest and store this free food from nature. Enjoy a walk on the beautiful Lichgate grounds to identify the wild weeds and medicine growing around us!

In this class, we will cover:

*Why do we want to eat weeds?
*Guidelines to wild crafting.
*Learning Latin names to safely harvest plants.
*Methods to prepare your wild harvest.
*Ways to store wild plants for future use.
*You will learn about a minimum of 15 plants during this class.

This class will be held Thursday, April 26th from 6pm – 8 pm.
Tuition is $25.

Instructor: Denise Williams

As a Registered Nurse in the Western medical system for nearly 30 years, Denise became frustrated with sick care and decided to dedicate herself to learning/teaching how to live a healthy lifestyle. She supplemented her Bachelor of Science degree with a Diploma in Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM). The CAM degree focused on a dual major in Herbalism and Aromatherapy. She also expanded her long term yoga practice into a teaching role by acquiring her 200 RYT certification. Her ultimate goal is to see herbal medicine become a part of the daily life, just as it used to be in the past.

Denise resides along the coast near St. George Island, Apalachicola National Forest, Tate’s Hell State Forest and one of the country’s most prestigious research labs, the Apalachicola National Estuarine Research Reserve up in the Florida Panhandle.
