Instructor: Jon Martin
Jon is an aspiring mycologist and mushroom enthusiast focused on identifying, photographing, and documenting local species of fungi present in Central Florida. From their significant role in the ecosystem, to their beauty and potential as a source of food and medicine, Jon is inspired by mushrooms and spends as much time as possible in nature getting to know them. He contributes to local parks by conducting periodic fungi surveys on designated properties, and shares his finds with book authors, mushroom photographers, and mycologists. He has also been involved with local agriculture and permaculture, volunteering with Sugar Top Farms, Sundew Gardens, and other small organic farms. He studies the healing properties and energies of whole foods from the perspective of Traditional Chinese Medicine and advocates the importance of diet in holistic health.
