Materia Medica Monthly at COAL Space, presented by Florida School of Holistic Living.

Over the years, Goldenrod (Solidago sp.) has gained a reputation for causing hay fever. In this class we will discuss it’s use to actually alleviate allergic symptoms, as well as many other applications for this amazing herb.

Please join us for an in depth study to uncover a myriad of uses and set the record straight about it’s effect on hay fever. We will taste this amazing herb in different herbal preparations, learn how to extract the helpful constituents needed for a specific effect, and discuss how Goldenrod might work as part of a formula. We will explore the latest scientific research on this herb, and dive into it’s history as an herbal ally for our elders.

Building an intimate relationship with the plants is foundational to learning herbalism. Enjoy a monthly herbal study group focusing on one specific herb and the materia medica (in depth medicinal/therapeutic/nutritional uses) of that plant medicine. Each month we will direct our attention to one plant and explore, in a focused, monographic style, their energetics, phytochemical components and actions on our bodies.  We will review the latest scientific research studies, the writings of our elders both present and past, and our own personal experiences with the plant.  The evening will be composed of lecture and interactive exploration.  We will experience preparations made from the herb highlighted, and discuss the different actions it provides based on the method of extraction.  You will leave with the links to the research studies that were cited in the class, so you can further explore this herb with your own personal research.

Join us every 1st Thursday of the month 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM.
Tuition: $20 per Materia Medica Workshop
