Outreach continues at Coleman Correctional Complex

Published on September 29, 2014 under News

In 2014, we are proud to have continued our outreach program at the Coleman Correctional Complex, reaching hundreds of female inmates with empowering herbal health education.  This service program has been a solely volunteer effort among many of our team members, and has provided immense benefit to the women it reaches.

The program liason reports “word spreads like wildfire” after our visits, and the women seem to have an “afterglow effect” from the connection with nature in such an otherwise deprived environment.

Herbalist Emily Ruff teaches practical health skills for mind-body-spirit through the program, utilizing tools and curriculum adapted from other incarceration rehabilitation programs with an emphasis on herbal health. We are engaging additional facilities throughout Florida to expand this program into 2015.
